Letter to the editor: Sharpe, Cordes on the right side of crucial issues

I am supporting Dave Sharpe for re-election and Mari Cordes in the Addison 4 District race for the Vermont House. They are the most qualified candidates to carry our state forward in supporting renewable energy projects, protecting our environment, providing healthcare for all, quality education for our schoolchildren, bringing the kind of well-paying jobs that we need, and promoting recreation and tourism opportunities for visitors and residents — a main driver of our economy.
Dave has been representing our district ably for well over a decade, and Mari will be a great addition. They will be the most effective representatives in the House, since it will continue to have a Democratic majority for the foreseeable future.
The two Republicans running in our district are generally nice people, but don’t represent my values or measure up. They keep singing the same tired old “lower taxes” and deregulation song. Trickle down economics doesn’t work, it never has! We have to make the investments in our society, environment and infrastructure by requiring everyone to pay their fair share in taxes, with relief for those earning less and increases for those earning more who can afford it.
I also cannot understand how anyone can vote for members of a party who don’t openly denounce the dangerous, ignorant and repulsive standard bearer of their national ticket, Donald Trump.
