Opinion: Utah family seeks dog that went missing in Vt.

You’ve probably heard of successful “Lost dog, now found” stories about Sole and Murphy who were missing for weeks in Vermont. Please help me make my own success story! My dog “Lincoln,” a Red Heeler/Cattle Dog, went missing on Aug. 3 near Huntington.
We are not from the area and we are only here visiting. I am still in Vermont based out of my truck with my other dog while we search every day. I would really love to get back home to Utah with Lincoln. I am asking everyone in north central Vermont to keep their eyes on the lookout for Lincoln. He is 35 pounds, has rust colored legs and ears (which are pointy), his coat is a mottled red/cream color, and tail is long and striped but not overly bushy.
The lost dogs mentioned above were eventually reunited because the general public helped report sightings to the owners in a timely fashion. The more sightings we have the better we know where to place a humane trap. When dogs are on their own for this long, they enter a stressful survival mode and they do not recognize familiar smells, their name or their owners.
If we can establish a pattern, we can better know where to set a trap. Visit Facebook.com/FindLincoln to see photos of Lincoln and updates on his latest sightings. Share with anyone in Vermont. The most confident recent sighting was Sept. 12 near Hinesburg on West Hayden Hill Road. Lincoln is used to 20-mile adventure runs so it would not be unheard of if he’s moved from the area.
Thank you to everyone who has called in already! I have received tremendous well wishes. I hope you can help me get back home to Utah with Lincoln! 917-445-3924.
