Opinion: Lawmaker prompted safety upgrade
I want to bring to your attention to how Dave Sharpe, our local state representative, interceded with the Vermont State Parks Division to rectify safety issues at the Kingsland Bay State Park regarding the single ladder off the swim pier that barely reached the water and the pier approach path that had been surfaced with “crushed stone.”
He promptly followed up on my email, which I had sent directly to the State Parks contact center, and secured the support of Commissioner Snyder.
As a result the path has been resurfaced with river gravel “which can be walked on with bare feet” and now there is an additional ladder installed that is long enough to safely get out of the water. I might mention that I am 68 years old and the old ladder was unmanageable for me and probably others as well.
Although I suppose there are bigger issues for Dave’s attention, he, nonetheless, supported my concerns for a prompt and positive resolution.
I offer my endorsement of Dave Sharpe and his effective efforts for his constituents.
