I am writing to express my support for the Healthy Workplaces Bill, H.187. Vermont workers need a minimum standard of paid sick leave to be able to take care of their health, and the health of their family. Everyone gets sick once in awhile. When you can’t work and have to lose hours, it is nice not to lose pay also.
I’m retired, but I had earned paid sick leave at my previous job. I received a certain number of hours of paid sick time off for a certain number of hours worked. I never took advantage of this benefit, and had built up quite a few hours before retirement.
This is incredibly important, and I urge my Sens. Christopher Bray and Claire Ayer to pass this bill when they return to Montpelier in January.
