Brain injury group to meet in Middlebury on Nov. 3
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Brain Injury Support Group (BIA – MIDD) will feature Lisa Bernardin and Debbie Tracht as co-facilitators on the first Monday of the next six months from 6-7:30 p.m. in Middlebury, in the Ilsley Library’s downstairs meeting room.
This Monday, Nov. 3, Debbie Tracht will present “Executive Functioning Challenges,” causes of which include traumatic brain injury and ADHD. Executive functions contribute to how one deals with attention, daily organization, problem solving, planning and prioritizing.
The meetings are open to any individual that has an interest in brain injury, including someone that has experienced a brain injury, a friend or a family member. Examples of brain injuries are closed head injury, concussions, uncontrolled seizures, brain surgeries to deal with tumors, etc. Brain injuries are often the “invisible injury” and people often don’t understand how they can help.
The co-facilitators plan to bring in guest speakers to spark the meetings. The meetings will also continue with an atmosphere of support and sharing.
For more information contact Bernardin at [email protected] or 802-388-2720.
