Champs overcome visiting St. Albans

VERGENNES — The host Vergennes Champs cruised past visiting St. Albans on Tuesday, 300-167, for their third win of the Champlain Valley Swim League season.
Katrina Mayer swept all four 18-and-under girls’ races to lead the way for the Champs, who also boasted four triple winners: U-10 girls’ swimmer Allie Croke, U-12 girls’ swimmer Emily Rooney, U-12 boys’ swimmer Robert Kenfield, and U-14 boys’ swimmer Ethan Sausville. Emerson Rice added two U-8 girls’ wins.
The Champs also won seven out of 10 medley relays and five of the six freestyle relays that were held before thunderstorms ended the home meet early.
