Tiger lax girls top Essex
ADDISON COUNTY — In midweek local high school lacrosse action, the Middlebury girls won on the road, the Mount Abraham boys came up just short away from home, and the Vergennes boys lost at home.
Weekend games were played after the early holiday deadline for this edition of the Independent. Results and details on those contests will appear in the May 29 paper.
TIGER GIRLS
The MUHS girls topped host Essex, 14-6, on Wednesday to improve to 8-3 heading into a Friday home game with Champlain Valley. Emily Kiernan scored six times to spark MUHS, and Emily Robinson chipped in four goals and five assists for the Tigers. Julia Rosenberg andEmma Best added two goals apiece for the Tigers, and goalie Baily Ryan stopped seven shots. Essex goalie Haley Drury made 11 saves.
EAGLE BOYS
On Wednesday, Mount Abe lost a back-and-forth battle at Lamoille, 10-9. Mount Abe led at the half, but lost in the late going when Lamoille scooped a ground ball and converted to snap a 9-9 tie.
Whit Lower andLucas Richter notched two goals each for the 5-6 Eagles, while Gus Catlin,Tyler Willey,Will White Pifer,Owein LaBarr andDylan Weaver added one apiece. Goalie Tucker Paradee stopped six shots. Goalie Thomas Meyer stopped four shots for the 8-4 Lancers.
The Eagles were set to host the Commodores on Friday.
VUHS BOYS
Also on Wednesday, visiting Harwood bested the Commodores, 16-2, despite 15 saves from VUHS goalie Broc Clark. Tyler Crowningshield andKyle Mailloux found the net for VUHS, andTommy Lee Hodsden picked up an assist. The Commodores dropped to 4-8 heading into their date with the Eagles.
