Local boys’ lacrosse teams have hard luck

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ lacrosse play late last week, Middlebury took its first loss, Vergennes dropped its opener, and Otter Valley lost at home.

TIGERS
On Saturday, the Tigers (3-1) lost, 9-6, at South Burlington. The 3-0 Rebels took a 4-0 lead and then held off the Tigers in the second half behind Cam Nolting’s five goals and goalie Mike Blauvelt’s 16 saves.
Sam Usilton’s four goals paced the Tigers. They will look to bounce back at Woodstock on Monday and at home vs. defending champion Champlain Valley on Wednesday.
COMMODORES
On Friday, visiting Milton dropped VUHS, 15-2, in the Commodores’ opener. Tyler Crowningshield and Erik Eisenhower tallied the VUHS goals, and goalie Broc Clark stopped 15 shots.
The Commodores will look for their first win vs. OV in a game scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
OTTERS
On Thursday, visiting Brattleboro defeated OV, 28-4.
Keegan Prattscored twice for OV (0-2), and Derrick Bassette andTyson Cram added a goal apiece; Cram’s was his first varsity strike.
OV goalie Carson Leary stopped 18 shots in the first half, and Shawn Martin made a dozen saves in the second half.
