Fox beats Moyers in Bristol selectboard race
BRISTOL — In the one contested selectboard race in Bristol on Tuesday, Brian Fox bested John Moyers, 509-354, for a three-year seat formerly held by Carol Wells.
Fox could not be reached for comment before press time on Wednesday. However, the lifelong Bristol resident told the Independent last month that he had considered a run for selectboard for a long time.
“I’ve always been fairly active in the community,” Fox said at the time.
Fox, a Hinesburg police officer, is a former president of the Bristol Rescue Squad. He served with the Bristol Police Department from 2007 to 2010 and until this week held a seat on the Mount Abraham Union High School board.
Moyers also made an unsuccessful bid for a selectboard seat in 2011 against incumbent John “Peeker” Heffernan.
Heffernan ran unopposed to keep his seat this Town Meeting Day.
