New Haven native gets his Marine pilot’s wings
NEW HAVEN / PENSACOLA, Fla. — Tyler McGuire, a first lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, on Jan. 25 received his helicopter pilot wings at Whiting Naval Air Station, Florida, near Pensacola.
Present were McGuire’s parents, Ed and Mary McGuire of New Haven, as well as his oldest brother, Matthew McGuire of Malvern, Pa., and his Uncle Jack and Aunt Sharon McGuire of Winter Park, Fla.
McGuire graduated first in his class, thereby earning first choice of assignments. He chose to go to a base in Pendleton, Calif., where he will be flying the HU-1Y helicopter.
