Bristol bodran player in big demand for Saint Patrick's Day

BRISTOL — A Bristol man is understandably busy during the month that feature’s St. Patrick’s Day, a touchstone for all things Irish.

Reagh Greenleaf Jr. is the founder of Irish-Americana band The County Down and creator of Vermont Celtic, a producer and retailer of art, apparel and gifts with Irish-American themes.

This month Greenleaf is sharing his music and products at more than 15 events celebrating Irish heritage throughout the state.

BRISTOL — Town Meeting Day in Bristol saw selectboard Chair Michelle Perlee retain her seat against challenger Lance Laliberte, approval of nearly $2 million in town spending and Bristol residents OK’d revised zoning regulations that were five years in the making. Sidewalk repair and school board salaries were the focus of the most discussion on the floor of town meeting Monday evening at Holley Hall.

Gibbs vows to reclaim old Bristol firehouse

BRISTOL — The old Bristol firehouse at 32 North St. will soon have a new owner, if all goes as planned. Last week, the Bristol selectboard unanimously chose William Gibbs’ proposal to renovate and restore the historic 120-year-old structure.

“She will be a gem in the town when I get done,” Gibbs had told the selectboard when he and the other contenders presented their vision for the 1897 building earlier in February.

Shamans explain their lives, traditions

BRISTOL — Bristol residents will weigh in on proposed new zoning regulations on Town Meeting Day. Article 20 will be up for discussion at Monday night’s annual meeting and voted up or down the next day by Australian ballot. The new regulations build on the town plan passed in 2012 and have been five years in the making.

BRISTOL — Bristol voters will convene on Monday, March 6, 7 p.m. at Holley Hall for the annual town meeting, followed by the school meeting. Voting by Australian ballot will take place Tuesday, March 7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., also at Holley Hall.

At Monday night’s meeting, Bristol residents will weigh in on 25 articles, 19 for the town and six for Bristol Elementary School.

The selectboard is asking voters to approve:

•  A general operating fund of $933,401, of which $752,524 is to be raised by taxes.

Bristol company hires new product director for education design

BRISTOL — SchoolHack Solutions, the Bristol company that makes education software, recently hired Thierry Uwilingiyimana as a product director.

“Thierry’s strong technical background combined with his deep understanding of learner-centered education and design thinking will add tremendous value to our team,” CEO David Lipkin said in a press release.
