NEW HAVEN — On a recent morning in a sunlit room on Rivers Bend Road in New Haven, four-year-old Brian Henderson sat on the floor and pondered his next move. A pair of mittens on a string was placed next to him and his snowsuit was half on and half off. His teacher sat on the floor beside him; after some consideration, Brian moved over to sit on her lap.
CORRECTION: An item in last ?week’s Vermont State Police Log ?incorrectly stated the facts ?surrounding a case in which Todd? Norris, 40, of Bridport was cited ?for possession of marijuana. Norris? was not driving his car at the time ?police stopped the car and allegedly ?found marijuana in it; he says he? was home on the couch and another ?man was driving it. As the owner of? the vehicle, Norris was charged with possession. He told the ?Independenthe will contest the? charge.
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police received into evidence some unknown white pills that had been found by a security company that had been monitoring a Middlebury College dance on South Main Street on April 6.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Continued their investigation on April 1 into an alleged sexual offense in the South Main Street area.
• Served a no-trespass notice on April 1 on a person not wanted at a Mead Lane residence.
VERGENNES — Vergennes police recently dealt with two cases involving credit and debit cards, one a fraud case and one the actual theft of a card.
On April 2, Vergennes police were told by a Main Street resident that somebody had used her debit card number to make purchases in California. Police notified the attorney general’s office and helped the woman fill out a report that she could use to work with her bank.
BURLINGTON — The Vermont Department of Health is calling for volunteers to participate in a research study that will test blood samples from residents living in Brandon, Sudbury and Whiting for antibodies to the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus.
The Health Department wants to learn if many people have been infected with EEE virusbut did not get sick. Individual test results will not be shared with participants. All information collected during the study will be confidential.
