ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police responded to a two-car crash on Middlebrook Road in Ferrisburgh last Saturday, Aug. 18, at approximately 8:55 p.m. Upon arrival, troopers fond that one of the vehicles had left the scene of the crash.
Police later located the vehicle that had left the scene. Senior Trooper Joseph Pregent said it was down an embankment off of Long Point Road in Ferrisburgh. He identified the driver as Donna Marie Trucott, 48, Ferrisburgh.
VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Aug. 18 cited a man and a woman who were houseguests at a Hillside Drive apartment on Aug. 11 and 12 for grand larceny after they allegedly stole electronics equipment, jewelry and movies from their absentee hosts.
BRISTOL — The Bristol Police Department responded to the Bristol town green on Aug. 1 to investigate two reports of drug use on the town’s central park.
Although Bristol Police Chief Kevin Gibbs said neither the suspects nor drugs were found at that time, the suspects were found with drugs the next day.
On Aug. 2, the police arrested Cassandra Fraser-Brown, 21, of Bristol and cited her for possession of heroin.

I wish it were the old days, when baseball in August was just heating up, prelude to the pennant run and the Series, and not a concession to the colossus that is football these days.

GOSHEN — “If there ever was a state made for Nordic skiing, it’s this one.”
That’s the view of Cam MacKugler, coach of Frost Mountain Nordic (FMN), and his friends in this local organization, which has the goals of developing “a community of skiing enthusiasts” and providing the coaching and tutelage necessary to help athletes reach the highest levels of competition.
MIDDLEBURY — Fortunately no one was injured when a Toyota Prius crashed through the front window of the National Bank of Middlebury’s Court Street branch Monday afternoon, scattering glass in the lobby of the building.
MIDDLEBURY — Members of an ad hoc study committee will tour Middlebury’s municipal gym on Sept. 6 to size up a list of needed repairs that could be presented to voters as soon as next spring.

MIDDLEBURY –– Many Addison County nonprofits have struggled with financial uncertainty in the wake of the 2008 recession. Federal funding for these organizations decreased, causing many to scale back services or operational costs.
