Patti Casey returns for VOH’s last concert of the season

Patti Casey and Colin McCaffrey with special guest Eric O’Hara are performing at the Vergennes Opera House on Saturday, May 20 to help us close out the very successful 2022-2023 season.

On Tuesday the Vergennes City Council discussed a special city election that could be scheduled for late this spring or early summer and have multiple items on the ballot.

The comedy troupe Stealing from Work performs at the Vergennes Opera House Saturday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m.

“The Summer of Walter Hacks” is a story about young farm boy, during one hard summer in 1952 where after a tragedy on the farm, he and his brother are faced with some tough decisions.

Lucky for us, an afternoon magic show is slated for Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Vergennes Opera House, with magician Alyx Hilshey. 

A Vergennes Opera House booster and an architect last week told the Vergennes City Council that they’ve updated — and upgraded — the plan to improve accessibility to the second-story city theater and its stage. 

A spectacular lineup of performers will take the stage on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m., to perform musical numbers from “Guys and Dolls,” “Ragtime,” “Hairspray” and a special tribute to Stephen Sondheim.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, New Rhythm and Blues Quartet with horns (Whole Wheat Horns) will rock the old bones of the historic Vergennes Opera House and turn the stage into a fantastic musical playground.

Brass & Reeds is the umbrella name the all-volunteer Friends of the Vergennes Opera House has given to their season opening show, which takes place on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

A team of Vermont volunteers is hosting a Nights of Grief and Mystery event at the Vergennes Opera House on Oct. 3. This is a rare opportunity to hear the work of Stephen Jenkinson and Greg Hoskins, who are touring North America with a full band.

As Friends of the Vergennes Opera House President Gerianne Smarts tells it, the last building in downtown Vergennes that currently lacks full handicap access is the very space that sparked the city’s revitalization during the 1990s.
