That the war in Iran is a sad fiasco becomes more apparent each day: our president declared “total victory” in the first few hours but somehow our adversaries didn’t get the message, and now there are hundreds of dead schoolgirls and skyrocketing oil prices. An 86-year-old Ayatollah Khamenei is dead, replaced by a 56-year-old Ayatollah Khamenei, who doubtless hates us for killing his father, his wife and his children. Vermont lawmakers and environmental advocates are pushing for legislation that would allow for access to small-scale, portable solar systems in the state.

“Unless we develop truly massive seasonal battery storage — at a scale that is, at present, economically unfeasible — solar alone is not going to generate sufficient power during the winter months.”

I am in complete agreement that 100% renewable energy is a must. But a major flaw in H.289 threatens Vermont renewable energy jobs and the ability of Vermonters to participate in the benefits of community solar power projects.
