An advertisement in the Oct. 20 Addison Independent Election Guide was intended to inform voters about where candidates stood on important issues, but instead some of those featured in the ad say it misrepresented their views.
While I appreciate the Addison Independent’s interviews with candidates for local and state elections, the Sept. 8 report on Peter Caldwell is a conduit for disinformation.
Peter Caldwell, 79, waged a successful write-in campaign on Aug. 9 to have his name placed on the Nov. 8 General Election ballot for one of the two seats representing the Addison-1 district in the Vermont House.
“We are not enemies but friends. We must not be enemies.” Abraham Lincoln wrote these words for his First Inaugural Address delivered as civil war loomed.
