McGuinness promises to be strong advocate for families

Monkton Republican Renee McGuinness knows the Vermont Statehouse well, having testified there on a variety of legislation on behalf of the Vermont Family Alliance, a non-profit advocacy organization that, among other things, tracks “current and proposed policies and laws that infringe on parental rights, and (exposes) the potential harms that could occur when such policies and laws are made,” according to its website.

Join in on the fun at the Russell Memorial Library on Thursday, June 20, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., for the Winter Into Spring Musical Library Tour featuring Tournesol.

Back by popular demand, the East Monkton Church Association and the Monkton Museum & Historical Society will co-sponsor a cemetery walk at the East Monkton Cemetery this Saturday, June 15.

Tournesol had to reschedule their planned February concert with the Five Town Friends of the Arts “Winter Into Spring Musical Library Tour.” The new performance will take place on June 20, at the Russell Memorial Library, 92 Monkton Ridge Rd in Monkton.

Creators of the Monkton Dog Park are celebrating four years of canine play with a party at the park on Saturday, June 8, from 1-3 p.m.

From black bears and bobcats to gray foxes and gray squirrels, Addison County is home to a plethora of wildlife. It’s also home to many humans. 

Russell Memorial Library will host a Storytelling hour Thursday, May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. Weather permitting, it will held outside on the patio.

Roger and Helen Layn were among the Addison County residents who served their country during World War II; Roger as a B-17 pilot, and Helen as a nurse in the Army Nurse Corps. 

There is a flurry of activity going on in Monkton this week and weekend! Starting on Thursday, May 23, the Russell Memorial library will host Ethical Wildcrafting-Plant Medicine Shop 2 featuring Julie Mitchell.
