Letter to the editor: E. coli results put into context

It has come to my attention that I might need to correct a misperception that stemmed from my statements last week (and reported in this paper) about E. coli in our rivers.

High E.coli levels in 2 rivers explained

High concentrations of E. coli bacteria at recreation sites in the Middlebury and New Haven rivers were likely a result of the timing of the sampling and not indicative of a larger trend.
