Downtown Middlebury’s 51 Main St. storefront has in recent years been a tough nut to crack. It offers one of the most visible and spacious venues, yet tenants have had a tough time staying there.

The board also issued a liquor license to the restaurant that will soon open at 51 Main St., at its Feb. 27 meeting.
The long-vacant, 4,300-square-foot storefront at 51 Main St. in downtown Middlebury will come back to life next spring with a mixture of food, retail, entertainment, bar and event spaces.
