Letter to the editor: Challenge of ACSD explained

John Flowers’ article in the November 16th edition of the Independent mentioned that I had hired a lawyer to challenge the Addison Central School District’s decision to make its superintendent search confidential. I wanted to take a moment to provide a bit more detail about the grounds for that challenge.

When I ran for school board in March, I started out trying to keep up with campaign filings, but honestly, I fell behind.

For the sake of transparency with the public, it would have been better for the Addison Central School District board to release the names of the interim superintendent search candidates prior to announcing the hiring decision.

As a father of two young children attending school in our district, Chris is fully invested in the future of our schools, the success of our students, and the strength of our towns.

As community members who have endorsed Chris Kramer for ACSD Board, we are writing to provide a bit more context for our endorsements.

I have known Chris for five years now, since my youngest and his oldest started Kindergarten at Cornwall’s Bingham Memorial School.

The current Cornwall School families writing this letter would like to recommend Chris Kramer for the Cornwall seat on the ACSD Board.

Chris Kramer stands out to me because he has been deeply involved in board issues over the last four years.

In Cornwall, I’ve dedicated much of my time over the past four years to helping improve our school. We’re very fortunate at our school to have a congenial, supportive, and friendly culture.

How connected do you feel with your local school board? Do you know their names? When their meetings are held? What they’ll be voting on next?

We believe our organization shares a vision with the ACSD board to embrace a single educational community that is stronger together.
