It was seven years ago, at age 50, that Middlebury resident Pamela Smith found herself having what she described as “life-interfering memory loss.”
The Alzheimer’s Association Vermont Chapter has named Middlebury resident Pamela Smith as 2023 Advocate of the Year.
The Camel’s Hump Challenge planning committee, in conjunction with the Vermont Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, this week announced that the 37th annual cross country ski challenge will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Learn about the disease in a documentary film by a local woman who knows first hand. Plus there will be experts and caregivers there to lead a discussion.
Vermont residents are invited to a free educational conference hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association New England Region for individuals living with dementia and their families.
Early on in the event’s history, Bruce Beeken’s mother developed Alzheimer’s Disease and the Camel’s Hump Challenge focused its efforts on raising funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia.
“My experience is every single time I go out in public and ask people ‘Do you know anybody? Have you experienced this anywhere in your life? So many hands go up,’” Meg Polyte said at a meeting in Middlebury last week.
