Historical society examines school changes

What was it like to move from a small one room schoolhouse to the new Addison Central School? Addison Town Historical Society has saved the framed roster of students who made the transition from grades one through seven and invites all members of the first classes to attend and share their memories and memorabilia of the transition.

The Addison selectboard last week voted to buy back the town’s onetime elementary school from the Addison Northwest School District for $1.

In a General Election Day survey, Addison residents strongly backed the town’s repurchase of its former elementary school from the Addison Northwest School District for $1.

A General Election Day public survey of Addison residents could be crucial in determining the future of the town’s former central school building, which the Addison Northwest School District has offered back to the community. 

The next steps in the potential return of Addison’s former central school building to the town will almost certainly be a public forum followed by a town-wide vote on the question, according to Selectboard Chair Jeff Kauffman.

The town of Addison could once again own the Addison Central School (ACS) building this fall.
