This bobcat came to visit a Colby Hill home in Lincoln on Tuesday evening. The photographer did not know if it was the same animal that Sally Taylor photographed in in her Lincoln yard last week (that photo appeared in our Sept. 3 edition). As the crow flies, Sally’s house is 5 miles from Colby Hill. Do bobcats fly? Photo by Paul Forlenza

Naunau Baker-Medard TESTS his limbo skills as he tries to shimmy beneath the contest bar in the center of Middlebury’s Rogers Road this past Saturday afternoon. Neighbors organized a party in which all comers were invited to meet, greet and eat as a way to build community and have fun. Independent photo/Steve James

As daily high temperatures slowly drop and the amount of daylight decreases, there are still summer jobs that need to get done — like mowing. A Middlebury town worker diligently trims the grass along Quarry Road on a recent morning. How long until he switches to the snowplow? Independent photo/John S. McCright
