We have learned from subscriber reports that many subscribers did not properly receive their copy of the June 5 edition of the Addison Independent. We are so sorry for the interruption in your delivery!

Our subscription manager has dug into the program and learned that many papers were incorrectly routed to a further distribution hub by the USPS (our mail delivery partner), delaying their delivery to Addison County towns. They should be delivered today or tomorrow.

All subscribers are welcome to stop by our office at 58 Maple Street, Middlebury, to pick up a complimentary copy of last week's paper. We are also happy to add a complimentary week to your subscription, just call or email us to make that request.

The full PDF edition can also be read online by subscribers at the following link: https://www.addisonindependent.com/pdf-editions.

If you need help setting up your online account or any additoinal assistance, please call us at 802-388-4944 or email frontdesk@addisonindependent.com.

Did you see Ed the dog at the Memorial Day parade?
Did you see Ed the dog at the Memorial Day parade? He's a good boy and he's running for Mayor of Middlebury.

The Dog for Mayor campaign is a fundraiser for Homeward Bound, @homewardboundanimals, in honor of the shelter's 50th Anniversary. Nominations are open until May 30. The dog with the most votes will be sworn in at the Middlebury town offices on June 16.

The Dog Mayor will be responsible for regular check-ins at the town offices, leading the annual Walk for the Animals on September 6, promoting local dog adoption, and serving as ambassador for rabies and registration campaigns, as well as for the Middlebury Dog Park.

Canine candidates must live in Middlebury, be spayed/neutered, have up-to-date shots, love people and pups, and—importantly—have no criminal record.

To nominate your dog:
Send a headshot, campaign slogan, and a short summary of qualifications to:
