Have you ever wanted to write your own book but weren’t sure where to start? November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, and Bixby is taking that challenge on! Wednesday evenings will cover what it takes to write a novel, brainstorm ideas, and develop a completed draft by the end of the month Snacks will be provided. Ages 13-18 only.

Post 55 hosts bingo every Thursday.

Every Friday afternoon (excluding holidays) stop by The Center for card and board games with Stephen. Come play some games before heading over to the weekly community supper. Attending the meal is optional. Parking is available behind the building, please use the street facing entrance.

Enjoy the parade, which starts at the high school and goes down main st. This years theme is reality TV shows. Each class builds their own float and comes dressed in the theme.

A community screening of the award-winning faith-based film “Set Free.” Concessions will be available.

The town green will come alive with 70+ vendors, delicious food, live music on the gazebo, pony rides, children’s activities, free horse & wagon rides and the popular Art on Main Silent Auction. After visiting the festival, continue strolling through Bristol’s charming downtown and shop the local businesses.

The location of the concert will be provided when a ticket is purchased.

THe trio bring their celebrated blend of Americana, classic country, swing and original songwriting to the Little City 

The theme comes straight from local history. In October 1862, bandits swept through town and made off with $30 in silver from a resident named Marcellus Royce. The race starts with the blast of a conch shell, a nod to an early settler who was the only man in town with a clock and used it to call evening prayers. Every finisher collects a wooden token, and this year’s is an “R” for the country’s 250th, tying into Orwell’s Revolutionary War history. Overall winners take home a custom award representing that stolen $30. Proceeds benefit the Orwell Village School Booster Club and the Orwell Historical Museum

Hope in Motion is a community celebration of recovery, hope and wellness hosted by the Peer Recovery Center of Addison County. Enjoy a 5K Run/Walk, 1K Fun Run, live music, food trucks, a community resource fair and family activities. Come connect, celebrate recovery, reduce stigma and show that every step matters.

A cast of characters present the story of the several months around the October 11, 1776, Battle of Valcour Island—in their own words and from the point of view of the people at the northern garrison at Mount Independence/Fort Ticonderoga.

Will have 40 local artists and vendors in the Paquette building. Proceeds from the event benefit the Brendon P. Cousino Med47 Foundation, Veterans Place and New Haven Food Closet.

Join Middlebury College Professor William Nash for a multimedia exploration of music and social power in American life. Through recordings, videos and historical images, Nash examines how diverse musical traditions — from campaign songs and miners’ songs to protest music — have reflected, challenged and shaped the nation’s political and cultural history.

A new film by Bess O’Brien sheds light on Vermonters creating connection, resilience possibility and joy in their communities. The documentary focuses on a series of short stories and vignettes about people making a positive impact every day by doing small things that can make a big difference in people’s lives.
