Lincoln news for Jul. 15

LINCOLN — There are a lot of fun things happening at the library this summer. Crafty Wednesdays will take place on July 21 and 28 from 2-5 p.m. Crafters will make a lino-cut stamp and/or a booklet to stamp into. This will be a lightly supervised craft session tailored to any age between 3 and 99. Please call the library at 453-2665 to schedule a session.

Don’t forget about the summer reading program. Check out a book, write a quick review of it and be entered into the drawing. They also have all 25 Golden Dome books for students to stop by and check out. Keep track of your reading with the summer reading supplies and stickers.

FROM LINCOLN SPORTS

The tennis court has been resurfaced and it looks beautiful! This was a huge project and couldn’t have happened without the help of many people and organizations. Thanks to our cleaners who spent many hours preparing the surface: Dan Ober, Kevin Micklas and Elise Brokaw. Thanks to the Vermont Community Foundation for a grant to pay for a portion of the cost and Brian McDonough for helping with the grant process. Thanks to our neighbors Betty, Rodger and Dave for allowing us to use their water and power. And thanks again to Kevin for following the whole project from inception to completion.

The net will be put up early next week when the curing process is complete. After that, please remember, the court is to be used for tennis and pickleball only. Please do not use this for any “wheeled” activities like skateboarding, bikes, etc. Sneakers only please. Thank you.

FROM THE SELECTBOARD

The Lincoln selectboard seeks people interested in serving on the Addison County Communications Union District (ACCUD). ACCUD is the collection of Addison County towns that have banded together with the objective of establishing reliable, affordable, high-speed broadband internet service for our member towns.

ACCUD is currently composed of 20 member towns including Lincoln. ACCUD operates as a non-profit under the product name Maple Broadband. The selectboards of each member town appoint a delegate and up to two alternates to represent their town in regular Maple Broadband governing board meetings. Our selectboard is looking for individuals to serve as alternates. More information is at maplebroadband.net/about-us/. If you are interested, please email selectboard member Paul Forlenza at [email protected].
