College dance students to perform on Sat.

MIDDLEBURY — The public is invited to come to the Marble Works park overlooking the Otter Creek falls in downtown Middlebury this Saturday, July 31, at 7 p.m. to watch a dance performance.

An ad hoc troupe of fewer than 10 dancers will perform “Distance Dances,” an improvisational installation, what they called “a hurrah born of this moment and dedicated to this place and this community.”

Facilitated by Middlebury College Dance professor Laurel Jenkins and co-created by a collection of dance students past and present — none of whom know what shape the performance will take until it happens — this celebration of bodies in place and time aims to subvert linear thinking and locate dancers and audience members alike in deep, breath-full relationship.

They invite you to get your groove on, bring everyone you know and come share in this colorful, summer-brimming exploration of bodies, ground and the dynamic wilds of the space between us.
