Jayden Rushton and her dance team made their debut at a recital at Middlebury Union High School in 2023. Now, they have stepped off a bigger stage, after they competed at the National Take Centerstage Dance Challenge.

“We just launched our classes last week,” Town Hall Theater’s education director Lindsay Pontius said during a walk-through interview on Monday afternoon. “Enrollment is still very much open. We’re here and we want people to come in and use it!”

Mark your calendars next week for two events on the Middlebury College campus that will satisfy your song and dance needs.

The Carol Rifelj Faculty Lecture Series presents a talk on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 4:30-6 p.m., discussing “From ‘Arab Street’ to Stage: Muslimness and Masculinity in Maghrebi Contemporary Dance.”

The Middlebury Union High School dance squad, which had reinforcements this season from Mount Abraham Union High School, improved dramatically over the course of the winter, observers agreed.

There are two dance opportunities coming up next week at the Mahaney Arts Center in Middlebury. First is “Moving Words: A Text and Movement Workshop” held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 4:30-6 p.m., in the MAC Dance Theater.

A Movement Matters workshop is coming to the Mahaney Arts Center Dance Theater on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 4:30 p.m. Join Jillian Meyers for a lesson on dancing and choreographing for the camera.
