ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police looked into a report of suspicious activity at the Addison Four Corners Store at the intersection of Routes 17 and 22A in Addison on Saturday, Aug. 28, at around 4 p.m. The caller had reported a vehicle was parked at the gas pumps and the operator was in and out of consciousness. 

VSP approached the driver and identified him as Jimmy L. Bell, 40, of Ticonderoga, N.Y. While speaking with Bell, state police detected signs of impairment and took Bell into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. Police said that Bell attempted to run away, however he was taken into custody and transported to the Vergennes Police Department for processing.  Police got a search warrant to obtain a sample of Bell’s blood for testing.

Troopers cited Bell for DUI drugs, giving false information to a police officer, resisting arrest, driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent and criminal threatening. He is due to answer the charges in Addison Superior Court, Criminal Division on Nov. 1.

Separately, on Aug. 22 at 10:40 p.m. troopers responded to a call from Justin LaFave, 36, of Salisbury, who reported two individuals yelling and threatening him outside his residence on West Salisbury Road. State police investigated and determined that Ashley Whitney-Jackson, 35, of Salisbury and Scott Clark, 38, of Goshen had recklessly engaged in threatening, tumultuous behavior in public while making unreasonable noise at night. Police cited Whitney-Jackson and Clark for disorderly conduct and making too much noise at night.

Police said they also learned that LaFave threw rocks at the vehicle Whitney-Jackson was driving causing minor damage. Police cited LaFave for unlawful mischief.

Finally, on Aug. 24 between 2 and 5:30 p.m. a wallet was stolen from a white Acura parked at the Bartlett Falls swimming hole in Bristol. The stolen item was described as a light brown pouch-style wallet with a zipper and the brand “Davis” printed on it in small letters. The wallet contained approximately $60-$100 in cash.
