WEST HAVEN — Orwell’s Tim LaDuc and Bridport’s Troy Audet won the main events on Saturday in dirt track racing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

LaDuc took the lead on lap 17 from early leader Jimmy Davis of Amsterdam, N.Y., in the 30-lap headline Sportsman Modified Feature and cruised to the win from there. Davis settled for second, and North Bennington’s Marty Kelly III finished third. Shoreham’s Anthony Warren took fifth place.

Middlebury’s Justin Comes finished sixth and overtook Demetrios Drellos for the Sportsman Modified series points lead, 856-847, with two scoring races left. Drellos, a New York driver, raced elsewhere on Saturday.

Audet won a nailbiter over Fletcher’s Evan Roberts in a 25-lap Limited Sportsman race. Audet came from the 17th starting position to run down Roberts in the final three laps. The duo dueled in lapped traffic the rest of the way, and Audet stole the lead from Roberts in the final corner, leading only the last 100 yards of the race.

Audet’s win was his third in a row in the Limited Sportsman series and fifth of the season, and it added to his lead in championship points.

The 15-lap Super Stock race saw an even closer finish. Fair Haven’s Chris Murray passed leader Chuck Bradford of Addison on the 11th lap, but couldn’t shake Bradford, who bounced back to take a lead on the final lap. But Murray beat Bradford in a sprint to the finish by 51-hundredths of a second to claim the win.

The Mini Stock series ran a 15-lap A Feature and a 10-lap B feature. Rutland’s Adam Mahoney prevailed in the 15-lap feature, with series point leader Chris Sumner of Rutland taking second. Bristol’s Griff Mahoney — Adam Mahoney’s cousin — finished third, and Cornwall’s Brian Blake was fifth.

Fair Haven’s Chase Allen won the 10-lap B Feature by holding off a late-charge from Orwell’s Ronnie Alger, who finished second.

New Hampshire driver Kamden Duffy cruised to a relatively easy 15-lap win in the Mini Sprint series. Orwell’s Roger LaDuc (Tim LaDuc’s brother) was second, and Bridport’s Gage Provencher and Orwell’s Ray Hanson ran 4-5.
