MIDDLEBURY — With a donation of more than $1,000 to the Tot Time program with the Middlebury Recreation Department, National Bank of Middlebury President Ken Perine put the shoe on the other foot by giving to others on the 25th anniversary of his date of hire at the bank.
The National Bank celebrated Perine’s 25 years of service to the community with the donation, and by highlighting the town recreation department’s Tot Time program. Perine’s grandson, who participates in the program, was one of the beneficiaries and got to take one of the toy trucks on an inaugural spin.
Perine was hired as vice president of mortgage lending at the bank in 1987, became senior vice-president and chief operating office in January 1990, and became president and chief executive office in January 1992. In his years in the banking industry, Perine has served the Vermont representative of the Community Bankers Council of the American Bankers Association; a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, 1996-1999; Chairman, Vermont Bankers Association; and president of the Vermont Bank Service Corporation, among other positions.
During this time the bank has grown from $50 million in assets to $280 million, while adding bank branches in Bristol, Brandon, Hinesburg and Vergennes. The bank also has built a new office at the Hannaford Shopping Center.
