MUHS skiers prevail in Nordic relays at Bolton
BOLTON VALLEY — The Middlebury Union High School Nordic ski teams swept to victories on Jan. 29 in relay races hosted by BFA-St. Albans at the Bolton Valley Nordic Center.
The Tiger girls’ and boys’ teams each prevailed over a couple dozen teams from a half-dozen schools in a three-leg relay held on a 3-kilometer course.
The top MUHS girls’ team of Kate DaPolito, Dorothy Punderson and Sophie Hodges won in 27:50, ahead of BFA in second place in 29:25. Coach Matt Trueheart said the Tigers stood in second heading into the anchor leg, and Hodges gave the team a strong finish.
The top MUHS boys’ team of Mac Groves, Micah Lynch and Max Livinstone-Peters led from start to finish and prevailed in 23:57. BFA again took second, with a time of 24:22.
Three other MUHS girls’ teams competed:
• Emily Kiernan, Julia Rosenberg and Kelsey Smith were sixth in 31:43.
• Nathalie Ingersoll, Sophie Logan and independent Morgan Pratt were eighth in 32:53.
• Julia Vorsteveld, Signi Livingstone-Peters and Michelle Peterson were 24th in 41:04.
Three other MUHS boys’ teams competed, with two skiers doing double duty so all could participate:
• Jonah Supernovich, Groves and George Mulcahy were ninth in 29:22.
• Haven Tate, Bo Tran and Robert Avery were 14th in 31:17.
• Mulcahy, Matias Pyle and Ronnie Metcalf were 15th in 31:43.
