Vermont State Police Log: Two men hurt in car crash

ADDISON COUNTY — The Vermont State Police responded to a two-car crash on Route 7 in New Haven at a few minutes past 3 p.m. on July 30.
Troopers report that Geoffrey L. McLoughlin, 51, of South Burlington was driving a 2001 Volvo V70 northbound when he applied his brakes while a car in front of him turned into Pidgeon’s Gun Shop just north of Hunt Road. Vergennes resident Amanda L. Martell, 30, approached from behind and was unable to stop the 2005 Hyundai Tucson she was driving before it collided with the rear of McLoughlin’s Volvo.
Both drivers sustained bumps and bruises, and Martell was transported to Porter Hospital. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Both the Volvo and the Hyundai were damaged.
Police said that driver inattention appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
