Almost Home Market is for sale

BRISTOL — A town institution is for sale in Bristol, but the owners say business is doing just fine.
Almost Home Market co-owner Beth Marr said she and fellow owner Gary Smith are selling the store, which has been a fixture of Bristol’s North Street for a decade.
“My business partner is not able to fulfill his partnership because of illness and I never intended on taking it solo,” Marr said, adding that she wants to pursue other interests.
Marr praised the support the five-town community has given the store over the years.
“It is a wonderful business with an incredibly loyal clientele that have been like family to us,” Marr said.
Far from struggling, Marr said she has overseen the growth of Almost Home.
“Our catering has been booming and we are looking for someone to pass the torch onto,” Marr said. “We are experiencing wonderful growth in our catering department and have worked with 10 couples thus far this year.”
Marr said that she is open to whatever arrangements a prospective buyer may propose, including a partnership that keeps her on board.
“If the right business person would come along we would be interested in speaking with them as well,” Marr said.
Currently, Almost Home employs nine people. The store offers prepared food at its deli and also produces, cheese, meat, poultry, bakery items, some local craft items, beverages, beer and wine.
