Otter field hockey wins sixth straight

MANCHESTER — The Otter Valley Union High School field hockey team blanked host Burr & Burton on Tuesday, 2-0, to improve to 6-1.
OV pitched its fourth straight shutout and won its sixth straight game to set up a Friday matchup at undefeated Division III power Bellows Falls. As of Tuesday, OV was third in D-II behind Rice (6-1) and U-32 (5-1) in the Vermont Principals’ Association quality-point standings.
While goalie Myliah McDonough (two saves) and the OV defense shut down the 4-4 Bulldogs, forward Allison Lowell tallied both the Otter goals, both in the second half.
The first came at 25:31, with an assist to Jenna Elliot, and the second, at 16:46, was unassisted. Lowell has now scored seven goals this fall.
OV forced BBA goalie Molly Dindley to stop 10 shots and earned a 10-2 edge in penalty corners.
