Orwell man charged with shooting after arguing over a horse
ORWELL — An Orwell man is scheduled to be arraigned later today in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, on aggravated assault and reckless endangerment charges after he allegedly fired a gun in the direction of some neighbors during an argument over a horse.
Jeffrey A. Bradish, 51, was ordered held on $15,000 bail at the Chittenden County Correctional Center on Thursday, Oct. 9, following his arrest.
Vermont State Police said it was at around 8 p.m. last night that they and officers from the Addison County Sheriff’s Department responded to 28 Parks Drive in Orwell for a “suspicious complaint.” After a brief investigation, police said they determined that Bradish and another Orwell resident, 41-year-old Clifford Casavant, had had a disagreement over a horse. During the course of that disagreement, Bradish became upset and allegedly fired a .45 caliber handgun in the “general direction” of Casavant and his daughter, according to police. The victims were both unharmed.
Police said Bradish also threatened to kill Casavant if he didn’t return the horse.
