UPDATE: VUHS cancels classes Monday and Tuesday due to steam leak

VERGENNES — Vergennes Union High School is closed today, Monday, Dec. 1, due to a steam leak that damaged several classrooms this past Friday, Nov. 28. On Monday afternoon Addison Northwest Supervisory Union officials announced that school would remain closed on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
“Today, we are conducting our air quality assessment and also planning some classroom re-locations and moving of materials, equipment, etc., which is taking longer than expected,” ANwSU Superintendent JoAn Canning said in a post on the anwsu.org website.
“Therefore, we must have another day to do this work,” she added. “We are cancelling VUHS classes and all related school activities for Tuesday, Dec. 2. Students who attend outside school placements will not be provided with transportation but if parents or students can transport by all means do so.”
The Independent will follow up with a more detailed report of the accident in Thursday’s edition.
