Tiger Nordic team vies at U-32
EAST MONTPELIER — The Middlebury Union High School Nordic skiing teams competed on Saturday in a 5-kilometer classic style race at U-32 against some of the state’s top squads.
On what Tiger coach Chas Lyons called “a great day for skiing” on a “dynamic course with great visibility,” the Tiger girls finished fifth in an eight-team field, while the boys were fifth in a five-team field, but only four points out of third place.
The top finishers for each MUHS team were Amelia Ingersoll for the girls (23rd in 17:30.60) and Haven Tate for the boys (16th in 14:40.83).
With the top four places scoring, U-32 won the girls’ competition with 20 points, followed by Woodstock (36), Champlain Valley (53), North Country (62), MUHS (117), BFA-Fairfax (141), Lyndon (155) and Montpelier (165).
CVU scored just 15 points to win the boys’ race, followed by Woodstock (36), NCU (74), Fairfax (75) and MUHS (78).
