Rory Jackson exhibits ‘Weathering the Storm’ paintings in Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Edgewater Gallery’s second Middlebury location, Edgewater on the Green, is finally open. The gallery is celebrating its new Merchants Row space with an exhibit by Rory Jackson titled “Weather the Storm.”
Jackson’s newest body of work features landscapes with big skies, capturing the beauty of local Vermont summers. The paintings in this exhibit, which were inspired, in Jackson’s words, “by the movement of the clouds, the dance of the light on water, and by the simple structure of the landscape,” create a peaceful respite from a “world that seems to run non-stop.”
Edgewater Gallery hosted an artist’s reception and grand opening celebration on Friday, July 24. Over 200 people attended. There was much merriment as celebrants shared a toast featuring sparkling wine from Shelburne Vineyards and enjoyed light bites from 3 Squares Café in Vergennes. The gallery was filled with the sounds live African harp music from Craig Myers, and attendees had an opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket to win a Rory Jackson painting.
“Weather the Storm” will be on view through August at Edgewater on the Green, 6 Merchants Row, Middlebury. Raffle tickets for a Jackson painting are on sale for $25 and available for purchase through August.
