Eagle boys’ soccer defeats Commodores; MUHS also wins

ADDISON COUNTY — Mount Abraham edged Vergennes to highlight local high school boys’ soccer action late last week. In other games, Middlebury won on the road, but Otter Valley dropped a road contest.
EAGLES, 1-0
On Friday, Charlie Meyer converted a first-half feed fromCaleb Bonvouloir and goalieNick Szczecinski (seven saves) and the Eagle defense made that strike stand up for a 1-0 victory. The Eagles snapped a three-game winless streak (a loss and two scoreless ties) and improved to 5-2-2).
Vergennes fell to 2-8 despite goalie Antonio Ruggiero’s nine saves.
TIGERS WIN
Also on Friday, the Tigers blanked host Missisquoi as the MUHS defense held the T-Birds to four shots on goalie Wilder Perera. Jonathon Fitzcharles and Owen Hammel scored the goals, and Drew Barnicle chipped in an assist as the Tigers won for the third time in four outings and improved to 3-5-1. Shane Laroche made seven saves for MVU (1-7-1).
OTTERS FALL
On Saturday night, host Woodstock improved to 9-2 by defeating the Otters, 6-1. OV managed four shots on goal, one of which by MacGregor Shannon found the net. The Otters dropped to 2-6-2.
