Shoreham nurse sparks relief drive
SHOREHAM — Two months ago, the Shoreham Congregational Church met Jade Blodgett, a nurse and Shoreham resident who explained her involvement with a medical mission to Honduras in March. The church took the challenge, titled “Hygiene for Honduras,” of filling a suitcase with basic hygiene supplies like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, sunscreen and lip balm, as well as old eyeglasses. Suitcases were placed at the church and in the Platt Memorial Library in Shoreham.
Blodgett reports that over 600 items were donated. Her mission team will sort and organize all supplies donated to create “hygiene packs,” containing one of each of the basic hygiene supplies. Their goal is to give a hygiene pack to each person in Honduras who comes to their clinic during their week-long mission. Their clinic will also conduct special dental hygiene classes for children.
