Elevator lift installed at Congo church in Shoreham
SHOREHAM — The Shoreham Congregational Church recently installed an elevator lift to enable better access to its sanctuary level. Now it is easier for people to attend worship services as well as special events like weddings, funerals and the annual Jamaican Hymn Sing.
The elevator is the first of three ambitious projects to update the historic church building erected in 1846. Next on the list is to repair the floor in the lower level, which is used for various public and private events. The estimated cost of $30,000 for this stage must be raised before construction can begin. Several fundraising efforts are under way.
Tax-deductible donations can be made payable to Shoreham Congregational Church with a memo for the Restoration Fund and mailed to PO Box 177, Shoreham, VT 05770.
