Artist and writer Phoebe Stone opens her house next weekend
MIDDLEBURY — Acclaimed Vermont author Phoebe Stone will open her Middlebury studio on Saturday, May 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. New artwork will be on display and Stone will read from her latest book at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Stone weaves together the tales of two sisters and two generations in her latest charming middle-grade novel, “Paris for Two.” Twelve-year-old Petunia Beanly and her 14-year-old sister, Ava, are at odds about their family’s move to Paris — though the city seems magical to glamour girl Ava, shy Pet would rather be anywhere else.
Stone, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, is an award-winning artist who has received two Council on the Arts fellowships for painting. Her work has been exhibited widely and appears in many corporate and private collections.
This free event will be held at 52 North Pleasant St. (two houses North of the Methodist church on the opposite side). The studio/gallery is in the carriage barn behind the peach-colored house with a fence around it. Come in through the back gate. (Extra parking is available at the Methodist church across the street.)
