Opinion: Porter services deserve praise
There has been a great deal of negativity surrounding the Porter Medical Center in the recent past. I want to describe a strong, positive experience with the hospital.
I received a hip replacement at Porter on March 28. From that day until now (I am still receiving outpatient physical therapy) both my husband and I have been extremely pleased and impressed by the professional care that I have received.
First, the nurse who prepared me for the procedure was clearly highly competent with regard to all the steps required to get me ready. She was patient with all the questions and concerns that I had.
Next, the anesthesiologist clearly explained everything, too, listened to me (I stated no opiates) and agreed. He was also friendly and personable.
The surgeon, too, was entirely approachable, and did not rush when he came to see me after the operation.
My post-operative care remained totally positive. The nursing staff was caring, always responsive, as was the in-house physical therapist, the physician’s assistant and the housekeeping staff. It was really remarkable how pleasant my stay at Porter was after a major surgical procedure.
My aftercare at home by Home Health and Hospice was also excellent, the physical therapist skilled and caring, as is the outpatient care now being provided by Porter Rehabilitation.
All in all, nothing negative, only praise and appreciation.
