OV girls’ tennis wins round one, then falls to No. 1 seed

BRANDON — The No. 8 Otter Valley Union High School girls’ tennis team edged visiting No. 9 Bellows Falls on Wednesday, 4-3, in a first-round Division II playoff match that was OV’s first postseason victory in many years.
The Otters were shut out by top-seeded Harwood (11-1) on Friday and the Otters finished the season 2-13. Bellows Falls finished 1-11.
In individual matches on Wednesday:
• At No. 1 singles, Reaghan Lapinski (BF) defeated Jonna Keith (OV), 6-4, 6-3.
• At No. 2 singles, Sarah Scarlett (BF) defeated Brigid Enright (OV), 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
• At No. 3 singles, Sophie Wood (OV) defeated Ella Guyon (BF), 6-2, 6-1.
• At No. 4 singles, Molly Fisher (OV) defeated Hannah Harlow (BF), 7-5, 5-7 (11-9).
• At No. 5 singles, Ghislaine Robin (OV) defeated Nina King (BF), 6-1, 6-0.
• At No. 1 doubles, Nora Bright and Sophie Guerrina (BF) defeated Haley Gearwar and Shana Houle (OV), 6-3, 6-3.
• At No. 2 doubles, Brittany Danforth and Brenna McCullough (OV) defeated Emily Wunderle and Bradie Harris (BF), 6-3, 6-1.
