In the Democratic primary on Aug. 9 we have the opportunity to return Amy Sheldon to the Vermont House and to add Jill Charbonneau as the other representative from Middlebury. Two years ago we gave our enthusiastic support to Amy, and now we are writing for Jill with the same enthusiasm.
We first knew Jill as the one delivering our mail. In that job she was both a faithful public servant and a leader in letter carriers’ unions on the state and national level. We know that Jill will work for concerns that we believe are most important for Vermonters now: tax fairness, a health care plan that includes everyone, a sustainable energy policy, a $15/hour minimum wage, education from pre-kindergarten to college that prepares children and youth for life and work in Vermont.
Jill will listen to everyone with respectful concern and do her best to serve us. We are glad that we have two people to commend to our friends and community, and we encourage people in Middlebury to vote for Amy Sheldon and Jill Charbonneau on Aug. 9.
