New Lincoln town office ‘progressing well’

LINCOLN —The new Lincoln town office remains on schedule to be completed by mid-October, selectboard Chair Bill Finger reported at a Sept. 6 meeting of the board.
Workers are finishing up the electrical wiring, Finger said, and are beginning to prime for painting. He expects the cabinetry, which is being built off-site, to arrive soon.
“It’s shaping up,” said Finger. “All the major things are there, and we’re progressing well.”
After construction is complete, town office employees will need to in. Finger expects that it could take until the first of November for the building to become fully operational.
Lincoln selectboard members also discussed alternatives for how it handles waste and recycling, said Finger. Changes in the market for recycled materials and the continued rollout of Act 148, Vermont’s Universal Recycling Law (which phases in tighter recycling requirements for various materials statewide), are changing the landscape for both towns and waste haulers.
Finger said the town is in discussion with Casella, its longtime hauler, and with other haulers as well to see who can provide the best deal to the town and its residents.
