Wasps run over Otter football

BRANDON — Visiting Woodstock stunned the Otter Valley Union High School football team on Saturday, 41-14, to take over first place in Division III.
The loss was the first in D-III in the regular season for OV since 2013 and the defending D-III champion Otters’ first home setback in four years.
The 3-0 Wasps scored four first-half rushing touchdowns to take a 29-0 lead at the break, with four of the runs on plays of 51 yards or longer.
In the first half, Woodstock’s Ezra Astbury scored on runs of 51 and 3 yards, Dan Robinson on a run of 58 yards, and Bill Wood on a burst of 85 yards.
Wood (177 yards rushing) added scoring runs of 25 and 20 yards in the second half. Astbury finished with 196 yards on the ground.
For the 2-1 Otters, quarterback Colby McKay tossed two touchdown passes to Will Ross, and Brent Nickerson amassed more than 100 yards on the ground.
