I am running for the Ferrisburgh Treasurer’s office because I am at a point in my work life where I can step forward to help. By design, an elected Treasurer is responsible only to the voters; however, to effectively run our town government the Treasurer and Selectboard must work well together.
If elected I will do my best to follow the accounting practices as recommended by our certified public accountant, be available during published office hours and foster town office operations based on cooperation and teamwork.
I’ve lived in Ferrisburgh since 1986, loving life, raising children and volunteering. I also worked for 35 years in financial services and believe I am professionally well-qualified for this position. Equally important, I have always strived to perform quality work, manage time effectively, maintain a healthy work-life balance and a sense of humor.
I earned a bachelor of arts from St. Michael’s College in business administration. I’m not a CPA, but never encountered a spreadsheet I didn’t like! Experienced in assorted business software programs, I have a solid understanding of equity and debt financial markets, basic accounting principals, a deep sense of fairness and an honest desire to serve.
For many years I have been an active volunteer in Ferrisburgh, having served on various town committees and commissions, and helped with many community efforts. Most recently I have been an elected auditor; state law prohibits simultaneously holding the Treasurer’s position and being an auditor, so I have resigned as auditor to run for treasurer. The auditor’s duties have given me the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of our town accounting practices and how our town offices work.
I look forward to being closely involved in the preparation of the town’s annual budget, keeping records and ledgers up-to-date, and serving the townspeople.
