ADDISON COUNTY — On March 11 at approximately 10:39 p.m. Vermont State Police were notified of a two-vehicle crash on Route 7 near Route 53 in Salisbury.
Police identified the drivers involved as Gail M. Grant, 60, of East Middlebury and Steven E. Amaru, 58, of Epping, N.H.
Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Route 7, according to police, when Amaru pulled over to the shoulder to allow Grant to pass. However, Grant passed Amaru’s vehicle on the right side and while doing so struck the Ford Focus causing damage.
The force of this collision caused Grant’s Subaru Legacy  to go off the right side of the roadway and then collided with a fence and multiple trees. Grant sustained minor scrapes, Amaru was uninjured. Both vehicles were later towed from the scene.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were determined to be contributing factors in the collision.
State police were assisted on scene by the Salisbury Fire Department and Middlebury Regional EMS.
Separately, VSP were also involved with two cases that are spelled out in longer stories in today’s edition. The first involves Jake Desjadon, 30, of Vergennes, who was charged with burglary, grand larceny, selling stolen property, resisting arrest and unlawful mischief after police apprehended him at his home on March 9 on suspicion that he was involved in the theft of a Feb. 27 ATV and trailer in Ferrisburgh.
The second involves Joshua Bley, 36, who was cited for refusing to take an evidentiary blood test for driving under the influence twice on March 10. Bristol police also accused him of possession of marijuana.
In other recent activity, state police:
•  On March 7 cited Adrian Moore, 25, of Weybridge for burglary, grand larceny and aggravated driving without the owner’s consent. Police alleged that Moore stole a car in Weybridge during the night of Feb. 26 and crashed it onto the banks of Otter Creek, before running away. Police said they located him last week and cited him.
•  On March 9 at 8:36 a.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Monkton Road in Bristol and cited the driver, 43-year-old Tina Sweet of Bristol, for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On March 9 at 9:30 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Route 100 near Warren Falls in Warren and cited the Addison County driver – Jennifer Marie Attic, 25, of Hancock, for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On March 10 at approximately 3 p.m. responded to a one-car crash on Route 144, approximately 1/4-mile west of Hortonia Road in Hubbardton. Police said Richard Buxton, 68, of Orwell was driving a 2002 Buick Century westbound on Route 144 when the vehicle left the right side of the road, hit several trees, and rolled over onto its passenger side. Buxton was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

•  On March 11 at 2:15 a.m. responded to a two-car crash on Route 100 in Moretown. Police cited one driver — Thomas B. Devine, 24, of Moretown — for refusing to give a sample for a DUI test. The driver of the other car, 36-year-old Ryan Salerno of Granville, faced no charges.
•  On March 11 at approximately 9:36 p.m. looked in to a report about a domestic assault that took place March 8 in Starksboro and involving two family members. After investigating, troopers determined that Trevor James, 33, of Starksboro had physically assaulted another family member during an argument causing minor injuries to the victim. On March 12 state police cited James for domestic assault.
•  On March 14 at approximately 12:45 a.m. received a call from a homeowner on Hawkins Road in Ferrisburgh saying that a man, identified as 23-year-old Mackenzie Sullivan of Ferrisburgh, had walked to the home and told the homeowner that he had just been involved in a motor vehicle crash. The homeowner told police that Sullivan did have visible injuries, so an ambulance and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
Police report that Sullivan’s truck had hit several trees along Hawkins Road before coming to a complete stop against a large tree. He was taken to UVM Medical Center by the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad for treatment of multiple lacerations, a contusion and a possible fractured neck.
State Police said their investigation showed that Sullivan had been drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the crash and a preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.124 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.
The truck, a 2003 Ford, was considered a total loss.
Investigation into this crash continues and possible criminal charges may be forthcoming pending lab results. Speed and alcohol are factors in this crash, police said.
